Artists – Full Membership

NEWAArts will promote local artists and sell original works by local visual artists by providing a space for a cooperative gallery at 130 S. Main Street (next to the House of Music). Artists who would like to share gallery space at a minimal cost can participate in the co-op. The space is approximately 2000 square feet.

  1. NEWAArts VOLUNTEER staff will work with the featured artist to write a press release, and post information on the website.
  2. The featured artist must be available and help plan a reception for their reception,
  3. either A) an opening reception or B) a closing reception.
  4. The artist will have a body of work including a minimum of 7 pieces to show that are juried and approved by the NEWAArts board and available for presentation.
  5. Each artist is responsible to help advertise the event to their mailing list.

To participate in the cooperative gallery FULL MEMBERSHIP artists must:

  1. Submit 3 pieces of visual art to present to the NEWAArts board for submission.
  2. Pay $40. per month in space rent. Rent is due on the 25th of each month PRIOR to next month and the balance of sales is deducted from the following month’s rent.  Pay a non-refundable start-up fee of $50 before their work will be displayed and promoted.
  3. Staff the gallery at least twice per month. (If artist cannot staff the gallery at any time in one month, the rent will be $50 per month, and commission will be 30% (Staffing slots will be 3 hours in length). The gallery is now open W-Sat, Noon-5 p.m.
  4. Attend co-op participant meetings the first Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m.
  5. A 6-month commitment is required for acceptance, 30 days notice must be given if you leave the gallery.
  6. Commission is 20% on all works sold.  Commission checks will be paid at the end of each month.
  7. Must provide the NEWAArts board with a resume, artist statement and a one-page biography.
  8. Sign a waiver for photography of their work and a photographic portrait of yourself which will be used in promotions in print and on the web site.
