Linda Sandberg
Until 2008 all Linda’s artist experience was made up of drawing stick figures. But a reading specialist at school convinced her to take a beginning painting class from her and that she’d find it to be ‘relaxing’. Three years later Linda is an award winning painter. The awards did not come without hard work however. Linda took two years of drawing and painting instruction from the Inland Empire Drawing School and has entered her work to be judged in many shows. Her first show was the Empowering Inc. Open Art show in December 2008 where Linda was thrilled to have two of her paintings sell. Next she entered the Pullman Juried Art Show where nothing sold, but she received strong encouragement from Stan Miller, one of the judges, during the critiquing session. Then during the summer of 2009 Linda participated in the River Ridge Association of Fine Arts Open Juried Show and was honored with a 3rd Place Award. Linda has since become a member of that Association and regularly shows her paintings during the monthly First Friday Art Show events in downtown Spokane.
Despite her early success, Linda feels that her art career is really just beginning at the age of 55. With watercolor as her medium her goal as an artist is to make a name for herself that her children, and her grandchildren can be proud of and benefit from. She appears to be well on her way as her unique stlye and skill with watercolors frequently makes people ask, “Is that really watercolor?”
Linda lives in Spokane Valley, WA and the NEWA Gallery is excited to have her as a Founding Member and a displaying artist in the gallery.
